Overview
Expedition Outside is an on-demand fly fishing company. The concept is to allow anglers to access private stretches of river throughout Colorado. Much like Airbnb, you’d select the closest town or river where you’d like to fish, browse available properties, and book the one that suits you.
How does a brand new company reach their target audience in a cost-effective manner? Through a digital marketing campaign designed to find where fly fishermen and women are consuming content online and meet them there.
Colorado in the fall is a truly epic place.
Our Approach
We initiated a full-fledged digital campaign that included SEO, blogs, video, social media, paid social, Google Ads, and email. As always, providing value to fly fishermen and women beyond the service we sell was top of mind.
Using the blog, video, and social media, we organically introduced the brand to fly fishing enthusiasts nationwide. We discovered early on that there was a lot of low-hanging fruit to fuel our SEO and blog agenda. That’s why today the blog outpaces many industry giants around fly fishing keywords.
A short video we produced on the importance of private land access.
The Results
The results of our approach have helped Expedition Outside build loyalty among their growing customer base. Organic traffic accounts for 45% of all website traffic. Of the top 15 most visited pages, 10 are blogs.
If you wanted to brush up on your “fly fishing techniques” or find out the “best time to fly fish colorado” you’ll find that Expedition Outside ranks #1 for both queries. Even if you’re searching for a “beginner fly rod,” you’ll find them right there at the top, ranking above actual fly rod manufacturers.
With Google Search Ads, we maintained an average greater than 7% click through rate (CTR) with some ads running near 20% for the life of the campaign. Around 2-4% is considered average for Google Search Ads.
